Action: Opens salmon seasons through Oct. 24. Closes all recreational fishing from Highway 9 to Baker River during dates listed.

Location: Skagit River (Skagit County) from the mouth to the Marblemount Bridge.

Effective dates and rules:

  1. The following dates are closed to all recreational fishing in the section from Highway 9 to the Baker River: Tuesday, Oct. 19, through Thursday, Oct. 21.
  2. Salmon fishing remains open (with the exception of the dates listed above) through Oct. 24, 2021:

Min. size 12”. Daily limit 4, of which up to 2 may be coho. Release Chinook and chum. Night closure.

Species affected: All species.

Reason for action: The Skagit River from Highway 9 to Baker River was scheduled to be closed Oct. 14 to avoid gear conflicts with tribal fisheries. The Oct. 14 closure is no longer necessary, this section will open immediately and remain open until the next scheduled closures outlined above.

The Skagit River coho return remains sufficient to allow for the recreational salmon season to extend through Oct. 24. Additional recreational opportunity is being evaluated and if available, will be announced as soon as possible.

Additional information: Anglers are asked to respect tribal fishers and reminded to not interfere with tribal fisheries. Continued conflicts could lead to additional time and area closures.

Information contact: Mill Creek Regional Office, (425) 775-1311
