Spirit of Adventure docked under Brian Evans' hand at H&M Landing September 24 with 25 anglers aboard. They fished a Guadalupe and Cedros Island; also for rockfish on the Baja coast.

Ron Goodrich of Pueblo, CO won first place on the five-day trip, which fished at Guadalupe for two and a half days. Ron's tuna weighed 93 pounds, and took a sardine on a 2/0 Mutu ringed hook. He said he fished 40-pound Big Game line and 65-pound Spectra backing on an Avet LX reel and a Calstar 760 rod.

"It was a great fight! The fish fought for 45 minutes," he added. "The rod is brand new, made by Ray Salvador."

Dale Stilwell of Laguna Niguel was second, for an 88.6-pounder, and Mike Simmons of Lemon Grove won third place for a 76-pound Guadalupe yellowfin tuna.

Ben Frazier of Oxnard brought his trip's best yellowtail, a 38-pounder, into the lineup shot. He got it with a sardine on a dropper loop.
